Total-ally Wish I Didnt Recall This One

    by Darkola

I've read the negative critic reviews, and still found myself wanting to see this movie, with the hopes that like many other movies, my opinions of certain movies, fall far away from the opinions of the critics .... sorry to say that this movie was not one of the instances. The movie itself felt rushed, from the very beginning its pretty much action throughout, but misses the part of developing the characters themselves. The action itself was great, but at the same time I just found myself asking, whats is going on here, as there is a bit to much action to lead it to confusion. I have to ask myself time and time again, why bother re-making a movie, if your only going to make it worst ??? Giving the choice of seeing this, or the old version with Arnold, I'd easly pick the older version of the movie, the new one did the old one no justice at all. Save your money and wait for the DVD, I'd give this 2 out of 4 stas myself .... Enjoy :)

    Loved this movie but....

I'm an action junkie and I loved the remake of this movie. However I think the focus was a little too much action overkill. I wish they would have had more depth to the story line.

Decent update of the original movie

I enjoyed the movie for what it was, a high-octane action movie.

The world created by this movie looked lived in and was rich in detail. The actors were all very good, even though some were under utilized.

As far as comparisons to the original movie, this movie had better effects, better acting and some improvements to the story. I enjoyed the multiple references to the original and would see this movie again. I enjoyed this movie. I would have liked to see more cameos from the original movie for fans of the original. Not having read the source story, I only know what I've heard of the original story. I was hoping for more dramatic changes from the original movie, possibly back to the original story. I really want to read the original story to see which really is better, the story or both movies.

It was a decent remake and I want to see more of the world. There's enough here for a sequel or spin-off in this same universe to be made.

And yes, I wish I did have three hands!

The effects was the only good thing

That is right the effects was the only good thing about the movie. Well that isn't really true Acting was good. I guess I was expecting more. I looked at my watch and was actually considering going and getting a rain check for a better movie. It's been awhile since I have given a so-so rating. Best recommendation is think twice before going to a remake of a classic. And on this movie wait until it comes out for rental, or HBO in a year.

    A shadow of the original

Start with a basic scene of Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel having a pitched gunfight combined with hand-to-hand combat and martial arts fighting with Kate Beckinsale and any number of armed human or robotic security forces, with Colin and Jessica only escaping by the skin of their teeth, remarkable daring, and good luck.

Now play this scene about 8 times. That's the whole movie.

Also, as smoking hot as she is, Kate Beckinsale only has the one facial expression.

They're allowed to take liberties with the story, because that's what you do to make Philip K. **** stories into movies. But they kept the 1990 movie's name, so it makes sense to say that they "removed" this or that element. Without spoiling too much, I'll just say that they took out some big elements, and they probably shouldn't have.

I love Bill Nighy and Bryan Cranston. They don't really get used much.

    boring, stupid, too much action

    by nng

i cant believe i would say a movie has too much action, but this one does for sure..it was really lame, too much action involved and barely any breaks, dialogue. It was just too intense and weird, and definitely not as good as the original or even close. part of the problem was that during the movie, there were too many people running in and out, a couple sleeping and snoring loudly, and making too much noise- that ruined the movie and im not sure why stupid people to go movies to make all that noise, but besides that, the movie just wasn't that good. The previews make the movie look exciting, interesting, but the way it was put together, made it more dull, too fast paced, and just not that interesting. the post apocalyptic world, and scenarios also just weren't that intriguing for some reason. It's worth checking out once, but really the movie is a bust in my opinion...I almost found myself wanting to doze off or walk out..

Total Recall -- Science Fiction wilthout the Science

The acting, special effects and dialogue was better than the original. The storyline was much worse. Many story elements were similar to the original film...and the parts that were new made no sense. I like my science fiction to have a bit of science around the edges. I could buy into the premise of the original film, no so here. Stay home and rent the original.

    A Bad Recall

Total Recall was not worth the money. I can not recall the last time I saw such a bad remake. Not even close to the original story and acting was not all the best. There were some good action sequences that were decent but not well enough to keep the movie going at the same pace. The "1990" version was to smart and had better dialogue. I see nothing with this "2012" version to recall.

    Loved it.

    by Bon Mot

This film is like an amusement park ride, and it is superb at delivering action and special effects. The story isn't bad, although you know exactly what is going to happen at just about every point in the film. It's good enough that you'll want to see it anyway. This movie is eye candy, and I'm going to go see it again.

Total Recall should be Total Refund

Pretty cast, pretty effects, pretty mind numbing. Poor acting, over acting, under acting, poor dialogue, so much bang bang shoot em up that after 30 minutes I was numb to the action; wait to see it on HBO at 2am, which may be available next week.

Good because of Colin Ferrell and visuals- but more like a remake of Bourne

Colin Ferrell is very charismatic in this action first, second and last film. The whole Inception kind of dream/reality blur is minimal. The visuals for flying cars, weightlessness, the look of the city and a realistic looking set of technology are all excellent, but at it's core is who am I. And the answer is a high-flying butt-kickier Bad guy Brian Cranston is lame, but Kate Beckisndale can ramp it up. We had fun.

    Worth seeing

I really liked this movie. It didn't take too long to get to the point and the action was amazing. Not the best movie I've ever seen but definitely worth it.

    Total ReCall

Had I not seen the oringinal, i would have liked the movie more, It closely scripted to the first, then seperated. The visuals reminded me of Blade Runner. But the action was too much to take and so much violence then the first movie with the Gov.
It had great visual effects but that a movie does not make.I was at the 2:30 showing in NYC and movie house was almost full.
Go see it if you want. I was only inmpressed by the visuals not the script
