This was a valentines gift for my fiance who has seen this movie like 200 times he swears.. I never saw it..and thought it so so..i slept thru parts..but he truly enjoyed it..the 3 D was pretty good but i think the age of the film did not make for the best you could see in the faces and far shots how it looked old. I was disappointed with the IMAX..where i live in Philly we have a IMAX at our Franklin Institute that the screen is humongous and it surrounds you on the sides that you feel like you are in the picture..the theater i went to in Cherry Hill NJ was not like that..i felt it was just a basic 3D movie where the screen was bit larger to the floor..not the same experience.. All in all ... good job bringing back a classic movie..even if it's A Guy Thing..lol and i was never a big Tom Cruise as far as the looks department...

Allegedly Tony Scott helped get this re-release done correctly before his demise, and he would be proud of the marvelous conversion to 3-d, and an all encompassing sound track, immersing the theatre goer in the world of TOP GUN. The plot is still fairly rote, But Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis non embellished characterizations allow them to give compelling performances. Even Val Kilmer had yet to develop his quirks, and by just presenting the character (less developed in the script than the two leads) becomes quite effective, as does Tom Skerritt's as is Anthony Edwards'. Cinematography and sound design are crisp and the lazy sun of coastal California has perhaps never been better captured and the flatness of many 80's films is absent here. The film could be a textbook on editing, directly contrasting mechanical and human realms to create the pulsing rhythm, emphasized by the sound track. An experience to be relished on the IMAX screen, worth extra admission costs.

Good to see it in IMax, but the 3D protion was weak, i.e. it lacked the "wow" factor I thought it would have. Brought back memories for me of when it first came out.

Loved it! I usually stay home on Sundays but this was definitely worth dragging my butt out of the house and going with my BFF. I have always been a fan of the movie and to see it in 3D at the IMAX made me love it even more!! I laughed, cried and maybe even drooled a little during the volleyball scene! Haha!! GO SEE IT!!!

This movie was just as great as ever. The IMAX 3D made it even more awesome. I saw it when it was first released 25 years ago and I enjoyed it just as much this time. My friend's 11-year old loved it. Highly recommend it.
