Awesomer than the original

I feel the need. The need for 3D. Wow, I never thought I could love this 80's classic more than I already did, but last night's IMAX 3D experience took it to a whole new level. It was like I was seeing for for the first time. There were so many things I had never noticed and things that just exploded on the screen. If you are like me and my wife and love this film, you have to go see it while it's in IMAX.

TOP GUN

Oh Yeah Baby! I loved the film, then and now. This movie captured the kick a** 80s and I got to see it again with my kids who were born after the original came out. They loved it, I loved it, we had a great time. The 3D was awesome. I don't know what the reviewers are dissing it for but the 3D in the flight scenes was great and the added depth to all the scenes was cool. It's not the kind of 3D that makes you sick though ~ This movie had the sexiest love scene (that I remember) being shown to date back then. Sweet and kinda innocent by comparison to even TV nowadays. Acting was great & we all know it launched a bunch of careers: Cruise, Kilmer, Ryan, McGillis, Rossovick (my hearthrob) framed within established actors like, Tom Skerrit & Anthony Edwards. Director Tony Scott~RIP~ followed his success with TOP GUN with a dozen greats. Kids OK but there is the love scene & the, ahem, Cruise bun-hugger scene. We all know the movie ending but it still gets you.

This alltime favorite of ours was even more special in the IMAX 3D experience!!!! Why the studio hasn't chosen to advertise this special event is beyond me as the total experience was one that we will never forget...so much so we are planning on seeing it again tonigh!

Not really IMAX

What was I thinking. If it wasn't filmed with an IMAX camera then it won't be the full size IMAX. If it wasn't filmed in 3D then it won't be the 'out in the audience' 3D. There were scenes with the jets that did not turn out all that well and they were not clear and looked as if they were hanging from a string to be filmed. The 3D did add some depth but that was all. Top Gun is still a great movie but the added cost for the movie was all hype. They should have just brought it back even with the 3D but not call it IMAX. I will admit that I did not watch this at a true IMAX but at a conventional theater converted to a mini IMAX. The picture did not fill even this small screen (the aspect ratio was not correct). There was a space at the top and bottom of the screen just like showing a true theater aspect ration on your widescreen TV.
