The flying scenes were simply wonderful. I am not a Tom Cruise fan and to me, he was too baby faced to play Maverick. He did not have real chemistry with Kelly McGinnis.
I am a Navy wife and have seen hundreds of fighter pilots and he just does not cut it.

The film holds up amazingly well. The biggest thing you get out of the theater experience is the sound. I had no memories of how impactful the sound design is. In the theater the jet sequences are insanely loud in a good way. I think more than anything of reminiscing about this film was that the sound of the jets left me as a kid so in love with those F-14s!!!
I can't recommend going enough. The humor is still there, the weird innuendo some have analyzed is there but not as much as I was thinking it would be there.
Finally the aerials shots are on par with groundbreaking as the Matrix was. So much footage shot with cameras mounted on the jets as they make rolls and dives it was incredible to watch on the big screen.
Go see it!!!

This was very nice to see back on the big creen again. The interaction between the pilots was accurate. The internal conflicts and external conflicts were for th most part correct. This is a good action movie with some romance. Good 80's music and movie was not cheezy in the least bit. Being back on the big screen was a plus not confined to a 42"flat screen at home. Thank you for bringing this back in the theaters for 2 days only

WOW! I can't believe it's been 25 years since it was last shown on the big screen. Glad they brought it back. Sounded great with the upgraded sound system!
