    Thin Ice

Just for the fun of it put this one on your list. Greg Kinnear is exhilarating as a conniving insurance agent "Mickey Prohaska" slowly succumbing to moral and financial turpitude; looking for the big score, in all the wrong places; Kinnear is incredulous, hypnotic in his characterization. The scintillating cast includes: Alan Arkin, Billy Crudup, Lea Thompson, David Harbour.

The setting, in the relentless and unforgiving winter of the Northern Plains, enhances the development of these strange, disparate, desperate souls; souls whose weirdness defines their suffering and strength, unique portrayals, one is unlikely to forget, or ever yearn to meet.

"Thin Ice" challenges the critic to curtail copious commentary, allowing the viewer to experience the revelations, surprises, the unexpected as the filmmakers intended. Sisters Jill and Karen Sprecher wrote (Jill directed) this quirky, pleasurable and ultimately satisfying film.

    THREE STARS!!!

    THIN ICE

I caught the matinee of Thin Ice today and I was really pleased! What I thought would be a straight comedy turned out to be a flick with a better plot and twist than most of the mystery suspense films Ive seen and Ive seen alot! GregKinnear was right on point in this and this flick proves that you can provide the crowd with a hell of a ride with out all the bells and whistles! I give it a B+ and a bravo!!

    Kept my interest

I always like the movies with stories that keep getting more and more twists, this was that way. I enjoyed it!

    Fargo this is not...

    by pedsarq

Why did the creators of this movie feel so compelled to match the classic movie "Fargo" scene-by-scene? Well, it feels like the writer and the director of this movie were more-than-channelling the Cohen Bros and Fargo, they were downright copying them! Look for the following similarities: murder in very cold climate (check), bonehead salesman in dire need of money commits stupid mistakes (check), bonehead salesman tries to use his business to commit fraud and get rich (this time insurance business instead of car salesman like in Fargo), murdered body check chopped up (check), etc. The similarities are too frequent to focus on the merits of this film. If you haven't seen Fargo, go and see this movie and you'll probably enjoy it and think it's very creative. But, please see Fargo shortly after to enjoy one of the best mystery movies of all time. The only saving grace in "Thin Ice" is the acting, especially by Billy Crudup.

Thin Ice ~ Great Story, Suspenseful, Intense and awesome!

    by tootsie

I left this movie with such a great feeling! This movie has an all-star cast, the acting is great, the story line was well thought out and written, and the acting was impeccable! It's been a while since I've seen a good suspenseful thriller that didn't have me guessing the outcome within the first 30 minutes. Go to this movie. It will be well worth your while. If you liked Fargo, A Simple Plan, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, Little Miss Sunshine, then this movie is right up your alley! What a surprising little gem!

Why bother--Thin Ice is a waste of your time, great actors talents and what movie going is all about.
No wonder Gross receipts are down.
