Original buzz:
Updated Story
A classic X-File episode expanded to movie length. I liked how they updated the Mulder-Scully relationship. Creepy, intense and well thought out. On the downside was the introduction of the two new FBI agents that added nothing to the story. Still, well worth a watch for die hard X-Filers and neophytes alike.

I Wanted to Believe!!
That after 10 yrs between movies and 6 yrs from the end of the show I was excited to hear about this movie! Atrocious!! They've had all this time and this is the best they can do?! This isn't even acceptable as a stand Alone "Monster of the Week" episode. Duchovny's performance was acceptable, the break seemed to have done him good, he's more relaxed & behaving like "early season" Mulder. Anderson is completely out of character and is more of a shrew than a partner. I felt horrible as Scully was one of my favs. Skinner makes a great cameo (too short), Billy Connolly is acceptable, Amanda Peet is wasted, the storyline could be better if done different. Gone is any chemistry between Mulder & Scully, creepiness or suspense that kept you tuning in week after week. I was rather disappointed in no Doggett, I liked his character and it would've been awesome to add him here. No explanations from season 9, no nostalgic feel. If they make XF3 (rumored) they better darn well make it up to me!!

Original buzz:
What?!
My wife and I are big fans of X-Files. We own all of the seasons on DVD and the first movie. We watched them all in order BEFORE we saw the new movie to "add to the experience" of the movie. This included watching "Fight the Future" between seasons so everything made sense. After a long marathon of X-Files and extreme excitement, we were completely BORED and agitated with the out-of-character bickering between Mulder and Skully. Their "troubled romance" was not only annoying but completely ruined the experience. They usually bicker but still join forces unconditionally to solve a crime. In this movie, X-Cube or whatever his name is, and Amanda Peet (seriously...) were annoying and horribly cast. No UFO, no monster of the week, no X-File. Just a convicted child-molesting priest who sees visions of murders... sort-of.
I hope Chris Carter and his team have one last trick up their sleeve of redemption... Indiana Jones had more Alien innuendos than X-Files. WHAT?!
