    Nothing left to believe

X-Files was hip and stylish when I started watching it in the 90's. The stories were so crisp and provocative they were water cooler fodder at the office. They created really neat characters like Cancer Man and the whole alien league of gentlemen. They were mysteries wrapped up in puzzles covered in sublime myths. The latest installment of X-Files is so tiring in its tedious and less than creative story that even the drama between Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny has been reduced to a soap opera. Chris Carter has run out of clever devices and riveting mysterious characters to make his stories resonate with an other-worldly vibe. This one is a fart during a minister's sermon. You want to appear that you're rapt in the import but you're biting your lip so as not to laugh in disgust. There are no redeeming virtues to this film including the mindless ramblings on faith. If you are an X-Files Fan and must see it, just remember it?s a requiem for Fox and Scully - may they die in peace.

    Pretty good

    by Pergo

i think anyone who is a fan of the series or has watch a few episodes and felt interested will appreciate this movie. its true that it feels like a long episode, but it stays true to the show's premise, and reminded me of what a great show it was.

the chemistry between mulder and skully is still there, and their characters have grown in ways, and remained the same in ways, as would be expected after several years. this is the most important imo as a fan.

although i feel the movie has done enough to be considered an overall good movie, i'm not sure how it entices people who aren't so familiar with the show. if you're not a fan, think of it on the same level as every other sci-fi thriller that has come out over the last 3-4 years, it's not any better or worse than those.

    not bad

    by dipi

    just attended the 1201 show.
    always been my favorite.
    so anticipation sky high.
not ok: the sequence mostly predictable, romance, aging scully
good: good overall story, speed, v few boring parts, mulder v good.
i was quite content when i walked out of the theater.
must go for fox, dana fan.

I saw a pre-screening last night and It was great!

It started well with a mystery compelling Scully to ask Fox to come back to the FBI with all forgiven. As it continued it appeared to have one type of comflict for the plot that has been done to peices, (although they were doing it well), and then near the end it took a great twist that surprised me. The first movie answered all the questions from the series, this one was a lot like 3 epeisodes of the X- Files back-to-back. Altogether quite interesting and fun.

I just saw it, and I'm not sure my life will ever be this great again

Ok, so maybe that's an exaggeration
    But, I loved it!
I've been an X-Files fanatic for years, have seen all the episodes, etc. Just a few things to point out:
    - There are no aliens/monsters in this movie, nor is it a continuation of the last movie. It's a stand-alone film, but it does a good job of picking up where they left off after the show ended in season 9
    - The relationship between Mulder and Scully is a key factor in the movie, and a lot of questions are finally answered/cleared up (A BIG PLUS for all of us Mulder/Scully romance fans out there). Their chemistry on-screen is still, simply stunning:)
    - There is a surprise appearance from a former cast member towards the end of the movie, from in which my experience got a burst of applause and cheers from the audience when they came on:)
    - There is a good amount of inside jokes and things to watch for (make sure you stay for the credits!)
All in all, despite the mixed reviews, I loved it, and will definitely buy it!

The X-Files: I Want To Believe

Six years after the series ended, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully reunite to help their former employers, the FBI, solve a series of grizzly murders. Chris Carter, along with Frank Spotnitz, did an excellent job of creating a 'stand alone' story that die-hard fans and newcomers can enjoy and be creeped out. The chemistry between Duchovny and Anderson hasn't missed a beat, and their portrayals of their respective characters are both compelling and poignant. Can't wait for the next movie, and hopefully it won't take another six years. Terrific movie and a job well done!

    Mulder & Scully = LOVE

This movie is about the relationship between Mulder and Scully. PERIOD. The creepy, sci-fi action that comes along with it just takes up the gaps in between scenes. I really don't believe that with all of the wonderfully scary episodes that the X-Files creators wrote, this is what they came up with. Don't get me wrong, the premise is totally creepy, but not as scary as some have been hoping it to be. But saying that, just watching Duchovny and Andersons on screen chemistry is worth the watch. If you weren't a big fan of the show, this movie won't blow you away, but if you like watching a couple with some major history behind them, struggle with love and work, then this movie is fascinating to watch. So check out this movie solely to watch these great characters on screen together once again.

    Just as good!

I know there are mix reviews out there for this movie but I liked it....ALOT. I went into it only expecting a good mystery and Mulder and Scully and I got both. There were some surprises that all X-Philes would enjoy but not to many for others to be lost. Yes! Things could've been more paranormal but not every X-Files episode was like that. I believe this movie was perfect so that non-fans could enjoy. Plus, it has been just enough time for X-Philes to miss their beloved characters and want them back anyway they can get them. I appreciate what Chris Carter, Frank Spotnitz, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson gave us. I was overwhelmingly satisfied. It was like attending an all you can eat buffet and feeling full but not too full to not want more. Please do another movie in a few years. I for one would go.

THANKS! And go see it. Just don't expect anything but a good mystery and some Mulder and Scully interaction and you will be satisfied.

    Great movie

This is a smart film. Don't go expecting special effects by the tons, explosions, CGI and whatnot because it has none. It's not what one would call a blockbuster summer movie. Instead it's a thinking film, it actually requires the viewers to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
The audience has to think and make up their own minds on what they see - whether they believe or are skeptical, about what's right or wrong and whether the main characters are flawed for believing what they believe in or if it's that very belief that pushes them forward, never giving up.
Give it a chance, you won't regret it.
And STAY THROUGH THE CREDITS - there's a SURPRISE at the end.

    I tried to believe

If you are a fan of the show you will most certainly be shocked. Not only did Chris Carter lose his craft over the past years, he seemed to forget what his own show was even about. Regardless of how the series ended, you go to this movie to see the supernatural, to believe in the unexpected, not be put through an extra long Law and Order episode with Mulder and Scully at the helm. Chemistry between the two characters was bland at best, although Duchovny maintained Mulder's presence, Anderson just showed up to pick up her check. Editing and screenplay were faulty and relied on vulgar sex crimes and homosexual motivations to try to create some audience interest in the villains. Some of the plot, save for creating slight controversy over morality issues with religion and science, had no relation to the main storyline (what there was of it). Without giving too much away, this movie is a likely disappointment with fans and flop to the general public looking for something inspiring.

This movie was a huge dissapointment

First of all, the script was like a rollercoaster. It didn't know what direction it was trying to go in. Also, Gillian Anderson (Agent Scully) was getting on my nerves. She was reluctant to do the case talking crap like "I'm done chasing monsters in the the dark" and "This isn't my life anymore". The acting wasn't as great as we remember and it came across as forced or something. My problem is that X-files was a phenomenaly popular movie and after a six year break, this is all that they could come up with. They forgot that what made the show such a sucess was it's good dialogue and the chemistry between the two. None of that was in the movie. It had no aliens and was just about some serial killers. The movie was so boring that it left you not knowing what to think. It made you not want to care about the killers or the agents or even if they caught the killers or not. You didn't even care about the sick little boy that Scully had to take care of during the movie. Just didn't.

    I Want to Believe

I have seen this show three times as of yet, I am going to see it again tonight before it makes the move to the dollar theatres. I am saddened by the lack of true fans. I really enjoy the show and I hope more movies follow this one. The first time I seen the show it was on the Saturday it first came out and there were only at most ten people in the theater. The next time a few more but nothing like I have seen in shows that lacked in plot.
I am very pleased to see The X-Files back on the screen it has been away too long. If you are a true fan of the series you will love this show. And just a hint...stay until the end of the credits, there is a special treat there.
Thanks to the actors/actresses of the show and for bringing with work to the screen. I have been waiting to see it for over three years when I first heard a movie was in the making.
Go see it, you won't be disappointed.

    One for the fans...

If you were a fan of the series, there's no reason you wouldn't enjoy this movie. It's dark and angsty. There's a decent enough creepy plot. But the relationship between Mulder and Scully really drives this story, and that alone is worth the price of a ticket. Keep an eye out for fun little details and insider jokes hidden in the movie. And stay until the very end of the credits or you'll miss something. Okay sure, The Dark Knight is a better movie, but XF2 is a must see for anyone who really loved the show.
