Finally a good movie! Hope you don't have someone who likes to talk sitting around you because you have to listen. It leaves you thinking about long after it's over. Would like to see it again!

A solid movie about consequences

This was a pleasant surprise as the story is literally read by an author to a full audience. It starts about mid-way through then goes back to fill you in on the history of the struggling young writer then of the unknown author. It the age old story of right and wrong but takes it a step further by letting the moviegoer wonder what happens. I did think it was going to be a little more suspenseful but the movie is more cerebral than your typical suspense/drama. The actors all did a great job in making each character believable, especially Jeremy Irons who deserves more credit than he gets. Bradley Cooper is shedding the "Phil" persona we have come to know over the years. If you keep in mind the movie is a book about a book, and it has a deeper meaning than just plagarism, you'll like this movie

Here's the good news - Jeremy Irons is absolutely fantastic in this movie! Now for the bad news: Bradley Cooper is completely disingenuous in portraying a totured sole of an author, looking for success. Olivia Wilde's role is non-sensical as the writing is so poor that her delivery of lines is at best laughable. The dove-tailing of triple story lines taking place between fictional characters Cooper, Irons and real life portrayed by Dennis Quaid is interesting up until the last 10 minutes of the movie. I think the screenplay that was written and what was presented lost something considerably in translation and presentation. It is a mess at the end and leaves the viewer really wondering exactly why they just sat through this movie. The movie concept was excellent - execution was anything but stellar. If you want to see a possible oscar-nominated performance by Jeremy Irons, then go. But if this movie, is your primary choice of the night, think again - make it your last choice.

Hubby and I enjoyed the movie. Good story line and not predictable. I would have changed the ending - although we talked it through and decided on a better ending. Other people leaving the theater where talking about the ending too - so it wasn't that we missed something. I would tell my friends to see it.

Great concept - story within a story within a story. Poorly executed by Bradley Cooper. Jeremy Irons is awesome as usual but can't carry the film. Wait for the DVD and watch it if you don't have any other options.
