Secret Agent Wolverine Big Man In Japan!

Hugh Jackman is so talented, I could watch him read the phonebook so it wasn't hard to watch this latest entry for The Wolverine. However, I found it more like "Secret Agent Wolverine." The fight set pieces are great (just put your mind on hold for the one on the bullet train) but there is a tremendous amount of stereotypical crap concerning Japan and the Japanese people. The film felt 30" too long and got a little stale at the end. In closing, Jackman is great; script very muddled, terrible acting by the lead actress and Japanese stereotypes about people and culture make it hard to watch sometimes. As always, there is post-credit scene that teases the new upcoming X-Men film. I hope Logan gets his metal talons back. Kids over 10 OK; no sex scenes, a funny giggle-worth bath scene and not much blood and gore. There are hat-tips to two other films. Can you spot them? One is for James Bond's "Diamonds Are Forever"....and the other for Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood."

Bleeding Cool Interview with Rila Fukushima who plays Yukio, Wolverine's body guard and soothsayer of death - Q:“So, the first question has to be… ‘At what point did you realize that you were the coolest character in the movie?’…” RF:“Well…I was interested in the Yukio character because comics fans expect that she’s a bad***. She’s an assassin, she’s very strong…and particularly a strong woman. But James tried to explore a little bit deeper, I think the Yukio of the film has a lot of heart. That’s what I really liked about her. She’\s strong, but more importantly she’s a decent person. ” READ MORE - tinseltinecom

Stop it with the comic book comparisons already. This movie rocks. A hero, soldier, berserker, armed with an incredible healing factor and a cool set of claws has to fight his own demons, a hundred ninjas, and a sick old man with more money (but not a cooler suit), than Tony Starks. Some parts were predictable but you still wanted to see it and when you did, you weren't disappointed.

Where's the fun in that?

I understand that Wolverine/Logan is a tortured soul that has lost everyone he has ever loved , but what fun is it to watch him mope around for an hour? Guess what Logan, you and Jean were no great love story, I don't need to be reminded about her every 15 minutes. Get over it. I like the chemistry between him and his bodyguard Yukio, but on the flip side there was no heat between him and his love interest Mariko. I want my Wolverine and any Wolverine movie to be pumped with action and while Hugh was very pumped physically, the movie was weak. It seems when he lost his power to heal, the movie lost the power to be fun. My dreams now rest on X Men: Days of Future Past.
