    The Visitor

I loved this movie and highly recommend it. It is well written, well acted, and touching. If you enjoy human interest stories, and enjoy New York City as the backdrop, then go see the movie.

    The Visitor

A realistic, mind-opening look at our immigration policies and the dynamics of widowhood. The nexus between judging and compassion. Not a romantic film, thank goodness, but it will touch your heart as well as your head.

    The Visitor

The Visitor. This film is brilliant in its effort to charm its audience. Though the beginning seems a bit of an attempt to set up circumstance, as a whole, it leaves you feeling gratified and touched. After all, it is human to find duality in strife. And in the strife of the main characters, one finds humanity that is so gratifying to see on the big screen. The story is well crafted and paced, and the characters are worth falling for. Most importantly, I have to say, that the characters exemplify the complexity of our current political stance, with or against conflicting societies. Most importantly, the viewer is confronted with the duality of definitions of freedom in a most poignant way. The characters are appealing, real, and the plot demonstrates reality. So, if you want a dose of reality in terms of policy toward the middle east that reflects current day scenario, from a humanist perspective, this film is for you. The acting is high quality, and the pace of plot development great.

    The visitor is excellent

What an amazing movie. No hype at all, though, sad because the characters are so well developed and well acted. I loved this movie. No tidy ending either, but that's life...I liked that about it.

What a gem of a film!

One of the best films I've seen all year. I can't believe it's not getting more positive press. Go see it now. Funny and touching at the same time.

    The Visitor

An important film with an important message, and very well acted. The pace is deliberately slow in parts which fits perfectly with the mood of the subject matter. Topical and informative.

    Among the Best

This film strikes deep. It shows the new world of people displaced across the globe, sometimes willingly, sometimes not, and how contingent their lives become. It also shows how people can reach out to each other across boundaries of language, race, religion, nationality and form spontaneous alliances against the various soulless organizations that govern them. And, alas, it shows how those organizations see people only in terms of categories, dehumanizing and punishing them almost at random.

And it shows how even late in life, when someone has crossed into an arid desert of being, he can be revivified by music, love, and commitment.

Finally, almost incidentally, it struck me with a profound sense of shame and sorrow about my country's government and about the power over people we have given to organizations who don't deserve it and can't manage it.

    The Visitor

What a great movie. Wanted it to keep going as I had gotten into the characters a lot. Very true to what happens but it was a sweet film too. shows you don't need name actors to have a great film. Wish the name of the CD they played had been said more than once as it was good.

"The Visitor" -- Be Sure You Visit!

Thoughtful and thought-provoking with clean, crisp dialogue rendered in "real world" real voices by a quartet of engaging actors. "The Visitor" feels far more real than any TV reality show has or can. Its pace mirrors the pace of event protrayed; and the realizations the audience experiences arise as naturally as the self-imposed barriers to life and fantasies about it of the characters dissolve. Go, being prepared to think and feel and come away with questions about much that is daily life in post-9/11 America; but, go...
