The social activist documentary The Tsunami Diaries: A Journey to the Epicenter chronicles the relief mission of two young men, in response to the infamous tsunami-fueled destruction of the Indonesian coast on December 26, 2004. When an earthquake struck on the day after Christmas, massacring 275,000 individuals and injuring untold numbers of others, surfer Timmy Turner and cinematographer Dustin Humphrey initially trekked out to Java and planned to document the devastation for the rest of the world to see. The duo quickly realized, however, that far nobler actions were necessary - specifically, a massive grass-roots campaign for social relief that involved bringing food, doctors, medical supplies and goats to impoverished villages in Sumatra. The Tsunami Diaries chronicles the young men's awe-inspiring humanitarian mission. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
