Don't listen to the critics

This is a beautiful movie that's just plain old Saturday matinee fun. The sets and costumes are amazing, the acting passable, and if you like bearded men, the cast is wonderful eye candy. :-)

Love the story (the original), but this version....?

Love the Three Musketeers as a story and the settings/characters/etc. that it's made of ---- but Paul W.S. Anderson's newest movie (came out yesterday) is a turd. He [really] can't film action sequences or endings (this was almost identical to the last Resident Evil movie) and I hate how he keeps using Milla Jovovich [his wife] in EVERYTHING. She sucks. Very disappointed. :(

Visually Stunning But Lacking Pizzazz....

The cinematography was great, although it was not really as "3D" as we had expected - The characters were not nearly as exciting or engaging as in previous versions, and the changes to the story line were marginally OK. The Cardinal was not nearly "sinister" enough, the King just too silly, and there was no play between the Duke and the Queen. The Lady DeWinter was too "slick". The hot air balloons, while interesting, were definitely not part of the original story, and the it does appear that the ending left the door open to future movies. For me it would have been better to make this an "Adventures" of the 3 Musketeers type of story, rather than try to make this the original story. I did enjoy the film from a technical point of view, and the scenery was great. Overall not terrible, but not a good as previous versions.

Totally Disappointing

Great deal of talent totally wasted. Creatively no one person knew what was necessary to make a timeless story into a moderne , cohesive, fit . An enormous amount of monies were spent on this feature and sadly all for naught. Was it supposed to be tongue in cheek? Was it just supposed to have serious comic overtones and tentatively only adhere to the original book? etc.. The one redeeming quality was the lush melodious score. Even that did not fit where it was supposed to at times.

I was looking for a visually great and entertaining movie to see this weekend and Three Musketeers definitely fulfilled that. the movie was cute and #D effects were very well done. I'd suggest that you should see it too.
