    The original is the best.

It gets no better in a horror movie than this. So creepy and terrifying and gruesome without that much blood. It is remembered as one of the bloodiest ever. But actually, there's not much. Our minds let us imagine that however. Gunnar Hansen gives one of the best horror performances I have ever seen. If this is not in your film library, get it now!

Loved it! Such a fun roller coaster ride. Great story. I loved the way it unfolded. Check it out!

    Not as you remembered.

I'm not quite sure why this movie survived, yet films like Don't Go in the Woods are long forgotten. The opening scene in the van is horrible. The camera seems to have a fish eye lens attached, with closeups of the characters in nearly every shot. This resembles more a Troma film than "Indisbutably a classic of cinema, and not just horror cinema".

It also manages to capture nearly every horror cliché in cinema; the "where are you? this isn't funny" blends perfectly with the 1 minute long screams of terror.

I won't go into much more detail, but in short, this is not how you remembered the film as a kid. It's a piece of ****and not even zoom shots could save it.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: There's a Reason It's a Classic

    by cwalton

I had seen parts of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" over the years, but never the full movie. I don't know why exactly that is, but I think it's partially because, as a kid, I saw the sequence where Leatherface drags a girl kicking and screaming into his macabre, feather-festooned lair, and thought to myself, I think I'll pass on this for awhile. Well, this past Saturday night, I was fortunate to finally see the whole thing along with live commentary from director Tobe Hooper. And now I know why so many horror fans love this movie. Seeing it with a packed audience, with the director sharing anecdotes on the filmmaking and its history, you could really feel how innovative this movie is even today, nevermind 35 years ago. This is truly a horrifying, demented, disturbing, and downright sick movie. But it's also inspiring in its originality and its artfulness. If you love horror, then you've found your perfect movie.

Are you a fan of delicious flavor?

Brilliance like this is like lightning; it never strikes twice - even for the same director. This movie is a rare gem in that it is so terrifying it's become a cultural icon, yet most of the violence in the movie takes place only in your imagination. There is very little gore, no nudity, and I don't even recall any swearing.

This movie is truly disturbing and because of the way it was filmed, feels 100% authentic. It doesn't get any scarier than this folks!
