This movie really tried to live up to all the promise of the books. It didn't make it. You never felt aligned with any of the characters in the movie so you really didn't care much how it turned out. A lot of special effects and computer animation that are so standard in today's fantasy films, but nothing really stood out as noteworthy.I agree that it was, on the whole, pretty boring.
I enjoyed the movie. I haven't read the book. It is a little scary for smaller children.
OMG IT WAS SO COOL
I have not read the books, but I'm going to get them. I actually took my 6 year old son to see it and we had to leave about 30 minutes into it because he got so scared by the goblins/monsters. We rented it as soon as it came out because I was so anxious to finish watching it. Great movie, great story, everything about it was great! If you have children who have nightmares or get scared easily then probably not a good idea to take them. My son loves Narnia and all the superhero movies that are out - but for some reason the creatures in this movie seemed to scare him a bit more than normal. In fact he had nightmares about being chased and having the goblins attack his feet and legs....like in the movie. If you are particular about what your kids see, see it first then decide if it's okay to let the children watch. PRobably not for under 8 years old...my own opinion!!! By the way, my son didn't watch it when I rented it, still too scared too!
This is a good family movie... I took my daughter and i enjoyed it as much as she did.
