Two emotionally needy High School teenagers from highly dysfunctional families meet and fall in love while drenching their brains in booze. The end leads us to believe they may take a better path, but never tells us, and after an hour and a half of watching them pickle their bodies in alcohol, I walked away sure that soon both would be either dead or lifelong 12 steppers. A MAJOR WASTE OF FILM, TIME, AND A SUNNY AFTERNOON. No wonder the critics loved it.
Kyle Chandler was great as the boy's long lost Father. The only 'Spectacular' thing about this movie is that it ended and soon I will have no memory of it.

This is the story of a very troubled young man who drinks alcohol like a much older alcoholic. He has many redeeming qualities, which made me care about his fate despite his many reckless maneuvers to derail his life and the lives of those around him. He is, after all, a very lucky guy because he's surrounded by people who care about him.
He is the child of an overly protective mother and an absentee father and he is deeply affected by both. There are plenty of opportunities in this movie for you to stop caring about the principal character. He is very destructive and hurtful towards others who really don't deserve it. However, he is young and is worth saving. Try as I did, I couldn't stop hoping that he would recognize the beautiful love affair that he was experiencing and the fact that his mother was good to him. I was really in awe watching it, and I was very satisfied with the ending. Oscar nominations are likely for the two main characters, IMO.

This one is for the ages. Enough of the Notebook already (albeit a great one). This is why we go to the movies and why we take movies seriously. All heart forever.

I new nothing about this moving before going to see it. It was truly one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The actors were brilliant and the story line could relate to almost anyone, or at lease someone you may know personally. I'm in my early 40's, but I would also highly recommend this film to teenagers and young adults. It really makes you think about what is important in life. GREAT film!

This movie is a good wake up call to teenagers who are living in the NOW and don't have a clue as to how they will progress into the future. It's great to know that the ordinary smart girl got a break in this movie. Great plot of real-life issues that people from all walks of life can relate and face today.
