Took my 8 year grandchildren to this movie. Just awful. The writer ought to be required to sit through it. Heavy handed sappy plot overlaid with stupidity

Not for young children. This is too long. This could have and should have been no more than 90 mins. The acting? It is fine. But going into this you know full well this is not an award winner by any stretch of the imagination. It is for kids, so why make it longer than their ability to sit and attend? How is it that Hollywood can make a 2.5 hr adult action packed thriller with no more then 9.75-pages of dialogue but they can't do the same for kids? Not that our kids need to be anymore attention starved, but there has to be a happy medium somewhere. My kids (5 and 4 yrs old) did fine through the movie but they certainly were bored and challenged at times. I also understand cost is an issue and the economics of making sure viewers get their money's worth, but Smurfs 2 could have been better served if it were shorter. And no, my kids were not too young for this movie. Remember were talking about little blue Smurfs; the target audience.

Great movie! I think most kids would enjoy this however I'm not sure a 2-3 year old would be able to sit through it. It would depend on their maturity since it isn't a cartoon. Plan on going to see it again before it is out of the theaters.

My kids and I saw this yesterday and we thought it was witty and cute. My kids laughed and enjoyed the movie. Although as not as good as Despicable Me 2, better than Turbo. It was a movie with a moral lesson to be learned that the kids actually "get."

I would rather rate the theater than the movie. we bought our tickets in advance at the freehold theater. got there 40 minutes before . picked up our tickets at the self service machine. got into the theater and all seats were completely taken. not one available. how poorly run is this theater? you can not pick and reserve your seats, so buying in advance does not pay off. well the kids already had pop corn, candy ,soda etc etc all self service by the way and they got to eat it in the car because they had to give us a complete refund. now I find that you have to run like heck to the theater grab your seats , have someone hold them for you then go out in the lobby and hassle with the confusion of the complete self service pop corn and soda dept. where are the soda cups, god go find a cap to fit it. oh the straws are on the other side of the theater. thanks. where do you pay for this. oh thanks . are you kidding me. go there for a dry run before you purchase any tickets.
