Ok, not great typical LDS movie
This movie will appeal to an LDS audience that only requires that their faith be sustained at the end of the evening. As far as the movie goes, it's quite obvious in places. For example, the very obvious parallel drawn between the sacrifice Christ had to make on behalf of all mankind anda grieving mother who can save her son, but won't, crying to her husband about the sacrifice her son must make for the good of others.
This film tries but doesn't quite make it. From the shaky camera work reminiscent of the Bourne Identity to the hit you over the head character development of the two missionaries that began their ordeal weeping scared victims to finding their strength in Christ and willingly sacrificing themselves for a higher good. There is no subtlety here.
The movie gets an E for effort but a C- overall. If you tend to get weepy at Fast and Testimony meeting, you'll probably like this movie. If not, not so much.
