    by wheels08

it was ok. i sat through it only because i wanted to see if everyone was going to die. jena is hot. i hope there is not a sequel, that would suck. storyline wasn't bad tho. i do have to say that. overall not impressed

RUINS Begs the Question: Should American Film-makers even Attempt Anything in the Horror Genre Any Longer???

    by lugubriousthespian

You know, if we aren't doing inferior remakes of vastly superior European, Asian horror films and even classics from our own backyard - then we are dreging up penny-dreadful, pulpy books for inspiration which still rely way too heavily on the guts-and-gore-is-more sensationalism. The plot of this isn't even worth really mentioning - neither is the pat acting and rather ameteurish directing. The only prop I will give it is the masterful design of the actual titular star itself. Quite impressive! But without anyone of merit worth rooting for ( spoiled rich kids on break and Euro trash??? ) and after the first fresh kill being the only real hottie in the group - this is pretty bland, predictable and grotesque! FYI - Ben Stiller and Dreamworks co-produced this drek! OH the horror!!
