This movie veers from a classic American story about an oilman's determined rise to a classic P.T. Anderson movie about spirituality and emptiness. It is a story of goodness and creeping inevitable evil. It stirs up powerful emotions, and leaves the viewer a little off-balance. I admire P.T. Anderson in the way I admire Robert Altman and Stanley Kubrick. They are great film-makers who reward your commitment as a viewer, but sometimes throw you a debilitating curveball, or give you more than you bargained for. Daniel Day Lewis's performance is legendary.
Ok...the guy is a hateful controlling freak. He ruins lives every way he turns.Enough already...we get it.....Any point here? At all?
the best acting ive seen other than the joker boring in some parts good action sceens great story line
He is brilliant and solid with the lead role. He portrays this complex and deep character with top notch efforts. The photography is great with beautiful landscapes and well captured scenes that seam impossible to film. However, as the film wound down it lost me with it's direction and the ending was something out of a KEYSTONE COPS short. Lewis fans should see another of his great performances and leave early.
Hmmm... It was OK. It was a little slow to me. I just didn't get into it.
