The Raven

I loved this movie. It was exciting, and mysterious and scary in the right places. I watch CSI, so I'm not afraid of a little blood. The whole cast was amazing, and John Cusak as Edgar Allen Poe was brilliant. I definetly want to know more about the classic author. This movie is for fans of his, and mystery lovers as well, but don't take my word for it, see it for yourselves.

Horror fans and Poe fans alike will really enjoy this film. John Cusack does an amazing job capturing Edgar Allan Poe. Fans of Poe will love the fact that so many of his short stories were referenced. Even for those who aren't Poe fanatics, it is a riveting, suspenseful movie. The Raven is fast paced, violent, and fun!

I walked out

I sat through 20 minutes of it...I'll never get that time back again. Besides the horrible acting, and unbelievable premise, the writing was atrocious. Either speak in proper 1849 venacular or modern, don't mix it up. Poe is rolling over in his grave.

Decent but nothing special

First off I thought Cusack's acting was excellent and the high point of this film. His portrayal of Poe was as an arrogant, destitute gentlemen was compelling and fitting of the writer. The movie itself played out as many period murder pieces, the plot while interesting had a lot of what i felt to be "time filler" and seemed to drag and at parts was inching towards boredom. The supporting cast was average but is circumvented by superior set and costume design giving the viewer a rich environment. Overall a solid C

A movie worthy of Poe. It keeps you on the edge of your seat right up to the last seconds. Great acting, great script a definite reminder that there are still some talented people out there. They played on the plot and character interaction so they didn't need or use excessive gore.
