Demonic Possession and Hasidic Exorcism

I grew up watching Rosemary's Baby, and the Exorcist as well as a host of unbelievable demonic possession films. Always intrigued by the rituals used by Catholic priests, as well as learning these ancient rites are rarely used and need the approval of the Vatican. Catholic church wants the possessed individuals to first seek the evaluation and intervention of the medical, or psychological experts before it takes on the matter. Now comes "The Possession" rooted in the Hasidic experience of demonic possession cases. The family as in many documented cases didn't seem to have any religious affiliation. Seems like the non-religious or non-believers are always the likely candidates for demonic possession. The idea of Hasidic belief in demon possession is new and prompted curiosity. Overall found the movie interesting, and it did keep on the edge of my seat.

The story was decent and there was nothing gory or gross that you wouldn’t expect to see in a movie about a girl that gets possessed. I thought the actors did a good job and although horror is my favorite genre, I wish the writers would make the characters a bit more aware and not completely oblivious about what is going on until the last minute. Other than that, it was entertaining!

To my surprise, I really liked the movie. It was suspenseful, grabbed your attention from the beginning and held it. The story line NOT slow and dragged out, it was gripping and a thriller without all that gore and slaughtering. Well written story based on a true story; amazing! Love the ending! Great acting; believable! Overall, on a scale from 1-10, I give it a healthy 8. If you have not seen it and you long for a great thriller, "You gotta go." You won't be disappointed!!! Ciao, Everybody

It is based on true story but last 15 minutes of movie is totally unbelievable. Some of the sequences just defies logic and science. But overall, it is good scary movie but not scariest of all time. "the Exorcist" (1973) was and remains scariest movie of all time ,even to this day! Wroth watching once.
