For a good laugh more than a good scare

Purchased tickets for Girl's Night Out as my eldest now 17 wanted to see it as a part of her birthday weekend. She said that The Possession was a good movie, but she, her friends and the movie audience laughed through most it as more funny than scary.

Above Average Frights

Nicely made thriller that starts off a little slow as the story develops and then gets a bit more creepy about halfway through. Good acting and plot is a little bit cliche but all in all delivered as promised. One of the better horror movies that I have seen in a while.

Great

I am a very picky movie viewer and I have to say that this one was great. It even made me jump (a little) a couple of times and I can't say that for many movies. Horror is my genre of choice, and this is a must see. There is really no blood and gore, but the concept is good and the fact that it is based on a true story always makes it better. I would not recommend this movie for young kids.

Not Ground-Breaking, But Still Entertaining

While the film is far from ground-breaking, if you enjoy movies in the genre, "The Possession" isn't a bad choice to go and see. It's mildly creepy throughout, but the ending is pretty intense. Try to go when there isn't going to be a theater filled with teenage girls. They scream at everything and then laugh about it for the next five minutes. Ugh...

Kid friendly but not too scary

Kid friendly horror movie about a young girl possessed by the spirit from a Dibuk Box (a Hebrew thing that contains a malevolent entity) goes light on the violence and a bit too heavy on the silly special effects. There are a few genuinely creepy scenes but this probably works best with an audience that is very easily scared. Parents who take their children to PG-13 horror flicks should have no problems with this one.
