A tale of fathers and one act of justice that can change everything, leaving up a legacy of sins, and confusions about what's right and wrong anymore.
EXCELLENT storytelling (very unexpected, that I can guarantee you). Pacing is a bit off. 20 mins cut off might have made it worth owning in my collection.

This film illustrates a story of a father and son over a span of 2 generations. Although it was a long feature, the directors/writers did really well with tying the story line together. The story is about a fathers and sons, as well as their trans-generational connection. I enjoyed this film a lot because Mendes, Gosling and Cooper (main characters) played each role so well! Just hang on until the end and you the film gives you proper closure!! A+!

An amazing film with breathtaking scenes. Surprising twists, parallels, and you will leave thinking of it for days. It sticks to your bones. This is not Hollywood, it's Schenectady. Gritty, ugly, and heroless. Not for the frou frous, but so well developed and shot, it's worth the pause.

The flaws in this movie are forgivable because the overall entertainment value is so profound. It is a movie for those of us who love watching great themes unfold. The elements for that include a meaningful plot, characters we can care about, and stunning visuals. Wow. The Place Beyond the Pines delivers. The cameral obviously loves Ryan Gosling. He looks incredible from any angle. The opening shot is terrific, and the cycle scenes are breath-taking. He and the "son" bookend this story beautifully. Cooper and the actor playing his "son" were a bit too unsympathetic to me to care what happened to them in the end.
I can understand the negative reviews: it's hard to sit still and watch a story when you accustom yourselves to thinking deafening noise levels are indicative of a movie's worth.

I really enjoyed this film, especially the acting. The story telling was fluid and quick. It is 2 hours and 20 minutes long, but it goes by quickly. It is not as good as Silver Linings Playbook, but yet it is still a pretty good movie. I give it a B+
