As performed and filmed on April 18, 2008, this concert release was mounted to commemorate the 40th anniversary of opera superstar Plácido Domingo's first public appearance in the City of Angels. The set itself features arias performed by the preeminent tenor and soprano Patricia Racette; the Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, led by James Conlon, provides symphonic accompaniment. This film set an unusual historical precedent as one of the first opera concert films to score a mainstream theatrical run (albeit in extremely limited release, for one day only) in 22 cities across the United States. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
