A FABULOUS FRENCH FILM ABOUT 18 YEAR OLD BOYS WHO WERE ACCIDENTALLY SWITCHED AT BIRTH. AN ISRAELI JEW AND A PALESTINIAN MUSLIM.

French director Lorraine Levy has created a nightmarish scenario that evolves into a unique and quite beautiful movie...

Imagine living harmoniously for eighteen years, cradled in a niche of comfort, love, security; your solitary concern is how to fill the hours before entering military service or medical school when the apocalypse strikes and reveals that you were switched at birth; your world is bifurcated, and in a nanosecond you are what you have always despised, feared. Such is the tale of "Joseph", the musical son of Jewish parents, living in Tel Aviv and "Yacine", yearning to be a doctor, living with his Muslim family in a Palestinian village...

    FOUR STARS!!!!

    The Other Son

Should be seen by folks of all faiths. Leave it to women to bring mutual respect and trust. Guess we need more women leaders in this world to help put politics aside.

So good on so many levels!

This movie is beautifully done. It shows how love is more powerful than rigid inflexible beliefs about racial differences. The last spoken sentence is powerful. Take your teenagers.

    Beautifully Touching and Heartfelt.

The divisiveness of cultures can often stir strong emotions in those who empathize with one side or the other. Making a film like this without being political or taking sides is near impossible to do, especially given its subject and location setting. Yet, what this film maker accomplishes in that regard is nothing short of miraculous by distracting the audience from all that ugliness and instead, drawing them into the beauty that is love of family. This story is nothing short of superb. If you're not opposed to reading a film while watching (subtitled in English), you absolutely will NOT be disappointed with this one. In fact, among the typical shopping mall movie pabulum, it's far and away a terrific movie choice. See it. You won't be disappointed.

    The Other Son

Truly amazing story that is plausible. One leaves with more questions than answers. The emphasis on facial expressions tells more than any dialogue. Lots of interesting contrasts and definite commentary on "the wall." There are some very tense moments when the outcome is different than what you might expect. It raised my expectations in humanity and gave me hope for reconciliation on all levels, or at least the beginning of a dialogue instead of killing all the time. I think it would be appropriate for pre-teens and up. All of the actors were excellent. I would definitely see it again. Not sure why it has not garnered more attention?

    The Other Son

this is a special story that shows a boy that is has been loved from birth to the age of 18 is your child for life. Also, it gives a realistic view of conditions in Isreal.
