    THE OTHERS

Nicole Kidman stars as a mother valiantly trying to protect her two children in this deviously spine tingling ghost story that takes place on a mist-shrouded island estate near the end of World War II. Something bizarre is affecting poor Nicole's mind after new service people come to tend the house and grounds and she is determined to ascend every dark stairway and gloomy moor to discover this beguiling mystery. Incredibly effective in its use of shadows, sound and stillness to create mounting dread and suspense. A definite for those who enjoy a good, ingenious twist with their thrills and chills!

What all "horror" movies should be like.

    by

This film was simply so well done. The set was erie, the lighting was ghostly, the music was frightening, and the acting was flawless. This group of actors made the movie. Along with how the directing and writing of the movie brought the mood back to an old fashioned kind of "Scary", similar to "The Haunting". Creaks around the house, light changing, whispers, doors slamming, but not gore, none at all. This is what all "Scary" movies should be like still, leaving the thrills to the imagination rather than showing a drill going into a man's skull. Anyway, I recommend seeing this film, and it has a great ending.
