Depressing

This movie takes you not only into the occupation of a nanny, but the very sad, lonely, neglectful life of a rich child in Manhattan. There are blissful moments between the nanny and the child, but the nagging reality of who the boy's parents are ruins even those. The highlights are the romantic moments with the young man in the building. The movie needed more humor, and for the happy ending to arrive much more quickly. I was terribly disappointed.

Stick with the book

For those who read the book and want to see this movie, don't. The movie cannot come close to the humor and cleverness that the book portrays. It is a sorry excuse for an adaptation and rushes everything. Also, Scarlett Johansson's narrating, awful. Felt like she was reading off a list, not acting. If you did not read the book, you may like the film. However, character relationships are rushed and the acting is sub par (everyone but Laura Linney that is who did fabulous)
