    A MUST See

     by  bboyalan

I first saw this movie during my 2nd year of college and was completely amazed at the all-inspiring actors and storyline. It truly does reveal the difficulties many individuals face in cultures embedded in another. One's decisions may not make everyone happy, and only the experience after time can influence later choices. The developing story creates a strong interest and sense of understanding of the characters' feelings and point-of-view. A remarkable film. This one's a keeper on dvd.

    Outstanding movie

     by  hadzee

Mira Nair has done an absolutely fantastic job of illustrating the cultural issues faced by an Indian family which is trying to assimilate into the American culture. The story revolves around an Indian guy, Gogol, who is born and bought up in US. Gogol understands his 'namesake' after some sorry events. Overall a very good emotional movie.

    Great Film, touching

     by  cjtolmie

Kal Penn was great, as were all the actors in this film. I was surprised by where the film took us, but I found it both realistic, touching and moving. Great film for anyone to see.

    a good film

The Namesake is a good film that captures the identity struggles of a Bengali family as they move to New York and go through life.

    Namesake

We enjoyed the movie. Realistic portrayal of 1st and 2nd generation immigrants adjusting for US culture. 1st generation clinging to the Indian culture, with most of thier friends being other Indian immigrants. The 2nd generation intergrated ino US culture but with a deep love for their parents.
