The movie just hardly, if not barely, stayed true to the books. Anyone claiming otherwise is simply being deceitful. Books aside, the movie was entertaining enough although the plot was dashed and lacked fair character development. As for the die-hard fans: The main focus on Jace's heroic image left a couple roles missing credit where due, especially the role of Simon. Don't expect too much from our beloved and comical Magnus Bane.. He lacks a sense of humor along with his typical air of confidence.

I have always enjoyed a good Si Fi movie, I thought that this one was well done. Good build up, good plot, great special effects. Well worth seeing. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I think kids 13 and up would enjoy this movie too.

LOVED THIS MOVIE!
They changed a lot of things from the books but if you go in thinking of it from a movie perspective it works. They need to sell the movie to people who haven't read the books. That means making it more intense and letting the viewer in on some secrets that don't come out until later books.
Overall I really loved it!

I am a big fan of the books and was a little reluctant to go after I read some reviews. Luckily, I did go and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. In fact, I am planning on seeing it again. Lily Collins made a wonderful Clary and the rest of the movie was well cast. The story followed the book for the most part but where it deviated it did not spoil the story. This is a fun movie where you can just loose yourself for a few hours - isn't that what is great about going to a movie - you get to escape your mundane life and just spend a few hours in a fantastical world. I say if you want to have a great night out at the movies you should see this film. You might also check out the books, also, they are a good read!
