Of course the book is better

But yeah... as movie adaptations go, I can live with this. Jamie Campbell Bower is not my Jace, and there were a few other minor/major changes (Simon is never a mouse!), but I can accept them and move on. If you read the book, it's not like the travesty of Beautiful Creatures, so give it a try!

The movie was great, yes it did cram a lot of info into the allotted time frame, but it was either that or put it out as a mini series...that would have been good, I wouldn't have complained. I like the story and the movie, I was startled a few times jumping in my seat .overall happy with it and I would go see it again.

Alright, right off the bat: this is a movie adaptation. One REALLY can't expect it to follow the book to the letter. There were definitely some divergence from the original plot, but the movie itself was just an absolute pleasure to view! Having read the books as they've come out, I had a pretty firm image in my head of what the characters looked like. Of course, the actors they chose and such didn't match the images in my head but I was absolutely fine with that! The actors fit the roles chosen for them and this recreation of the book is wonderfully done. I am pumped for the sequel and will definitely go see this movie again with friends.

Did not disappoint

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the long anticipated adaptation of the book by Cassanda Clare, did not disappoint. The film retained much of the wit and charm of the book while providing spectacular fight sequences for a visual audience. While the variations from the book were numerous, they were understandable. This first installment was enjoyable, but like the first book, left us unsatisfied. Thus, we await the sequels.

Mutilates the book

Wow... bad when my "target audience daughter" was ripping the movie before we got to the car. Just finished the book a couple of days ago, and several of the changes just don't make sense unless they were just plain being cheap. This is nowhere near as good of a book to movie conversion as the harry potter series. This removes key motivation, changes locations, has events that flat out don't happen in the book. The final scene is pure cheese and takes away from the rest of the movie. While the book certainly needed "tightening" and editing, this felt terribly rushed.
