    The Mist

I am a major fan of Stephen King books, and when they are made into movies I end up watching them. The Mist is OK, it isn't action packed, and definately not as good as the book. I enjoyed it, but the ending was shocking but a giant let down. Only if you are a big fan of Stephen KIng, I wouldn't recommend it to you.

    The Mist

     by  CarriD

The crazy religious woman is soooo completely annoying that it makes you want to leave. It is too much! People actually cheered when she was killed! That aside, the ending is horrible and distirbing. It looked like it was made for TV.
    I hated it.

    An Excellent Thriller

I thouroughly enjoyed watching The Mist. It is a great example of what people do when they are so full of fear and are trapped together. It is amazing to see what people will believe to have the feeling that they are going to be safe. The ending was imenent. Although Stephen King himself did not write it this way, I believe it had to be done to effectively end the movie. They were in the middle of nowhere with no hope of getting out, and the father's promise to his son that he would never let the monsters get him made the ending truly shocking. An altogether story that focuses on the human aspects of fear rather than just the same, tired old monster movie. Even though the effects werent amazing, it was an altogether good movie to me.

    Frank Darabont is a genius!

I put off seeing this movie, because I thought, oh, another Stephen King; I grew a bit tired of his writing. I'm SO glad I watched this! Ok, the monsters were a bit stoopid, but the EMOTIONS of the people, so many different characters, just like real life.

How quickly we cave in, when pressure surrounds us, we grasp at the tiniest straw...Oh I just loved this, every little nuance, the little things, the subleties. Who would have guessed the average bespectacled guy was a sharp shooter! Marcia, I love ya honey, and you played your part so well, I was damn glad he shot ya! Tiny tender moments between father and son (Who IS that child?, what a marvellous little actor!) Jeffrey De Munn, always good value, Thomas, you're such a hunk. I loved most of it, the music was just fabulous, well done to all for making me sob like a baby at the ending, original and different! Highly recommended!

The Mist Review - See it in Black/White!!

     by  rocketjsl357

a true sleeper of the B movie horror genre. very simplistic in plot, but I really had a good time with this thrill ride from both a creepy-crawly and human nature standpoint. This movie begs to be seen in black and white, which was Darabont's original vision for the film. The film is naturally well-shot, and the frantic movements of the camera really immerse the viewer (at least in my eyes). I think that with this kind of 60's noir atmosphere - not to mention how much better it looks and compensates for some lower budget special effects - plus a modest love for a creature(s) feature, I couldn't help but think that this movie is a well-deserving fit into its genre. As for the ending, I think it was the right ending, and although some might consider it an unconventional twist, I honestly didn't expect the film to end any other way. - and even with this said, I was still frustrated by it and hoped for a better outcome. (4.5/5 stars)
