THE LAST TEN MINUTES THE SOUND WENT OFF AND THE LAST TWO MINUTES THE SCREEN WENT BLANK

An Opera is a piece of art and this in particular is a Jules Massenet's masterpiece. The performance of Kaufman was good (not extraordinary as it is usual) and Mrs. Koch was so-so; she was a modest Charlotte. But the worst was what I said in the title space of this review: during the last 10 minutes the sound went OFF and during the 2 last minutes the screen went BLANK; no sound, no video. Who has heard and seen this opera many times like myself knows every passage and every aria but we need to watch the piece every time on its integrity and this was not the case. The Met and/or Fandango should explain to the spectators what happens: we deserve it!

Werther -- Fantastic Voices and Acting

I saw and heard Werther for the first time on Saturday. Massenet's music is gorgeous. Jonas Kauffman's voice is so rich and his acting is touching. All of the voices were outstanding. The costumes and scenery were sumptuous. At the screening on Saturday in Houston, the sound went out during the final scene. This was very unfortunate. It seemed as if the projectionist was no where to be found when the sound went out. The sound only returned during the curtain calls. No one offered to try to replay the final act. I highly recommend that during the screening of Met Opera in HD that a projectionist be required to be in the projection booth during the entire live broadcast!!!! Fandango did refund the cost of the ticket or gave passes to people who wanted to attend the Encore screening. The line was very long.

Outstanding. One of the best opera performances we have ever seen. Unfortunately the audio portion of the HD tele-transmission went dead in the last act about 5-8 minutes before the final curtain. This was a disappointment but had nothing to do with the quality of the performance which was outstanding. Dr. Axton

Except for the the sound going out during the last five to ten minutes and virtually destroying the glorious hours that went before, it was great. But the last act was a debacle. $26 for a completely ruined experience. Hopefully there will be a DVD. If it's fixed for the repeat, highly recommended.

Absolutely outstanding performances and direction. The music is glorious. The voice of Jonas Kaufmann is the most beautiful since Pavarotti. This is a singer for our time. Handsome, young, and a very talented actor. The only complaint was that the satellite went down in the 4th act and we could not hear the death scene. It came back up with the curtain calls. Too bad. We were given complimentary tickets, but that doesn't satisfy the need to hear the final scene.
