Werther

Absolutely outstanding performances and direction. The music is glorious. The voice of Jonas Kaufmann is the most beautiful since Pavarotti. This is a singer for our time. Handsome, young, and a very talented actor. The only complaint was that the satellite went down in the 4th act and we could not hear the death scene. It came back up with the curtain calls. Too bad. We were given complimentary tickets, but that doesn't satisfy the need to hear the final scene.

The opera was terrific, very well played and sung. I was disappointed in the transmission during the last 10 minutes of the opera. We were unable to hear any of the singing due to a problem with the audio transmission.

THE LAST TEN MINUTES THE SOUND WENT OFF AND THE LAST TWO MINUTES THE SCREEN WENT BLANK

An Opera is a piece of art and this in particular is a Jules Massenet's masterpiece. The performance of Kaufman was good (not extraordinary as it is usual) and Mrs. Koch was so-so; she was a modest Charlotte. But the worst was what I said in the title space of this review: during the last 10 minutes the sound went OFF and during the 2 last minutes the screen went BLANK; no sound, no video. Who has heard and seen this opera many times like myself knows every passage and every aria but we need to watch the piece every time on its integrity and this was not the case. The Met and/or Fandango should explain to the spectators what happens: we deserve it!

Disappointing presentation of Werther

Werther is not one of my opera favorites. Massenet is not a composer I easily relate to; however, I did enjoy this production, and Jonas Kaufmann is the best tenor going today! He is magnificent! However, this presentation was ruined due to the loss of sound in the final act! To miss Werthers' death scene is to miss the entire point of the opera! I feel cheated---I paid for the entire opera and received only 85% of the show! I feel I should be compensated with either a refund or a discount for a future presentation. Also, no expression of regret was extended by the management of the Regal Cinema in Oceanside, which only adds insult to injury. In short, this experience was a very disappointing presentation of the opera Werther!

Werther

I love the movie operas. Was always going to write to Neubauer Foundation to thank them for this gift; please forward my thanks to them for me. I have sooooo become interested in opera since these Met transmissions. However, the previous movie opera transmission interruption a couple of weeks ago did not happen at a crucial place (I think) but the Werther one did. RIGHT AT THE END, NO MUSIC, AND I STILL DON'T KNOW IF SHE KILLED HERSELF. IS THERE ANY WAY YOU COULD TAPE THE ENDING DURING THE NEXT PERFORMANCE IN NY AND MAKE IT AVAILABLE ON THE COMPUTER? MAYBE ON UTUBE OR TO THE PEOPLE WHO BOUGHT TICKETS BECAUSE I DON'T FOLLOW UTUBE. YOU MUST KNOW WHO BOUGHT TICKETS AND COULD EMAIL THEM TELLING WHEN THE ENDING COULD BE SEEN. I love Jonas's voice. THANK YOU.
