Simon Boccanegra
Excellent performance of an excellent opera. BUT the amplification was turned up so high that it was uncomfortable. Our ears ringing when we left the theater, and they are still ringing 24 hours later.
This was at the Bell Tower Cinema in Fort Myers, Florida.
Theaters showing the Met performances need to adjust their amplification to the type of material they are showing. This is classical orchestral music with voice. it is not a rock concert, or a science fiction movie.
Our main home is in New York City, and we attend the Met frequently. Even when we sit in the front part of the orchestra seats, the sound level is much, much lower than it was at the theater.
