Rusalka

As a lover of Italian operas and unfamiliar with the others I have to admit that I found this opera beautifully done, the music was fantastic and sweet and the story was the usual with a sad ending. However I don't think anyone goes to the Opera because of the plot. I love being able to go to the local theatre and particapate in viewing the performance coming directly from the Met. Such a joy.

Technical problems at the theater

Unfortunately, no one at the Regal Commerce Cinema in North Brunswick, NJ got to enjoy this performance as the live streaming sound connection did not work, there was no sound, and the audience was sent home. At least once before at this venue, we watched a Met HD performance with the speakers on one side not working. I am a big fan of Renee Fleming and I am sure the performance was wonderful; I am just disappointed that I missed it!

Fabulous! Of course, Renee Fleming makes it a MUST! She is extraordinary with that taffy like voice--crystal clear like a bell. Her stage presence and acting ability is also outstanding. Of course, being gorgeous to begin with doesn't hurt a bit!! What prince wouldn't fall in love with her...as a nymph or a human being!!

absolute beautiful performance

An absolutely beautiful performance by all of the performers, but especially Renee Fleming. It is such a treat to be able to see opera in the theater as we do not have an opera house in our town. The sets, costumes and orchestra were all dazzling. I loved all of the backstage interviews and previews, but my husband thought it made things a little long. All in all what a treat!

The Best

This is the very best Rusalka ever. Renee owns the part. The scenery, costumes, and acting were as wonderful as Dvorak's great music. The arias and recititives were sung with brilliance. Jezibaba and the Gnome were exceptional, as was, of course, Renee Fleming in the title role. This is a must-see opera.
