I have been an opera fan for over 60 years. Dvorak and Czech are not my preferred choices. But who can resist water & wood nymphs and the pond ogre. Really great singing and music. It's a disappointment that Renee Fleming doesn't sing in the second act but, two out of three is ok. Perhaps what is a terrific plus with Opera in HD is all the backstage action. I pity the audience that doesn't get this PLUS. For some reason we did not get as much backstage as in previous operas. Met Opera sets are mesmerizing but not more than the great voices

The production was wonderful. It was glorious to see and to listen to. The cast was excellent. The theater was comfortable and the staff at the theater was most gracious. JFL

WHAT BRILLIANCE, JOY and POWER in the Met Opera, yesterday, seen on screen. What a melodious voice, with Renee Fleming portraying the water nymph so beautifully! What inexperience, sitting back, enjoying the performance, the conducting, the intermission as well, witnessing the staging and meticulous preparation for this extraordinary performance. It was an afternoon to remember, shared with good friends! The season is filled with marvelous and enticing choices. Bravo!!! Judith B. Carlson judithb125@gmail.com

This was my first opera at the movies and was I IMPRESSED!! Seeing the facial expressions on the conductor, actors/actresses made all the difference as did the reasonable cost of the tickets at 1/3 of the price of a live performance downtown for seats in the nosebleed section. The performers were excellent and their voices!! Exquisite! The sets were beautifully done as well. I'll never go downtown to see an opera again...and you can't beat free parking!

As a lover of Italian operas and unfamiliar with the others I have to admit that I found this opera beautifully done, the music was fantastic and sweet and the story was the usual with a sad ending. However I don't think anyone goes to the Opera because of the plot. I love being able to go to the local theatre and particapate in viewing the performance coming directly from the Met. Such a joy.
