Those who do not listen to opera - please disregard, this review and the whole thing is not for you. But if you are an opera person - do go and listen! The case, staging, singing, acting, not to mention music - all is as good as it gets!

Great performances!

If you like opera and you've never gone to one of the Met Live in HD performances at the movies, be sure to check the list for the upcoming dates. You must go! This Maria Stuarda was absolutely amazing--glorious singing by always wonderful Joyce Di Donato, as Maria, and the entire cast. The intermission interviews, live, with each cast member bring yet another dimension to the performance. I often go to see performances at the Metropolitan Opera, and there's nothing like hearing the sound directly, in person. But watching the live performances at the movies brings another wonderful dimension to the opera, because you have a close-up, face-to-face view to see every nuance of a singer's expression and vocal technique. You don't miss a thing! This was the encore showing of Maria Stuarda, but there are many more Met Live in HD showings yet to come. Don't miss them!
