A magnificent production! Done to perfect with beautiful costumes, settings, great comic acting and gorgeous voices! Now that is opera at its best!

I have been looking forward all summer to this HD live opera performance from the Met. The broadcast and sound were terrific, as well as all the performances. Unfortunately, the theater manager of the New Rochelle theater only opened ONE theater for this showing. Since so many of the ticket buyers are older, many disabled, this was a great hardship. We all paid the same ticket price, but seating was terrible for some. They had to sit right near the speakers, or the huge screen. Please open more than one room for future HD showings. It is only fair.

Outstanding! One of the Met operas we have seen in HD. Everything was very enjoyable-the singing, the acting....

This is what opera is all about. An absolutely sublime production. The sets and costumes were great. The singers were wonderful, I can't say enough, I just loved it.

L'Elisir d'Amore

Having seen a different Met production of L'Elisir on HDTV several years ago, I didn't quite know what to expect. Anna Netrebko is the character of Adina, giving Nemorino a bad time in the first act, and slowly but surely, letting is be known that she always loved him. Polenzani, as Nemorino, was the much anticipated "Lil Abner" type. But with the beautiful tenor voice necessary to sing "Una furtiva lagrima," as beautifully as he did. Dr. Dulcamara was great with his big bass voice. Chorus and orchestra were outstanding as usual. Yes, I would add it to my DVD collection.
