What A Treat!

This production opened the Met's season in fine fashion. Donizetti's L'Elisir has been performed for more than 150 years for good reason. Its just one of the most enjoyable operas around. This production feature Anna Netrebko as Adina, and of course she was wonderful in a role she has done many times. Matthew Polenzani was a excellent Nemorino. This opera contains one of the greatest tenor arias, "Una Furtiva Lagrima", which Polenzani sang to perfection. There will be a rebroadcast on Nov. 7, and if you missed it this do yourself a favor and see the rebroadcast. You'll have a fun time.

Polenzani who played Nemorino performed a stunning aria...the live audience at NY Met went wild! Anna, as always, was fantastic. What a beauty! Love her. The stage sets and props were beautifully done. Kudos to all of the artists and stage and lighting technicians...the amount of work that went in to this is quite apparent and I for one, am extremely appreciate to reap the fruits of their labor. Lovely "feel good" opera! Mood the remaInder of the day was upbeat and high spirited. Thank you!

This production of L'elisir D'amore is top-notch, first rate, excellent in every respect. What an enjoyable Saturday afternoon! The cast is superb, the sets wonderful, the orchestra without peer and the wonders of live in HD should be seen by one and all. We find the opera experience to be magnified greatly by the HD broadcasts; one feels intimately included on stage with the artists.

Absolutely wonderful performance, but the video transmission was so dark you could not see the background of the action at all clearly --seemed as though it had been recorded at dusk (and that is not what the Met is like).
