I don't know how it could have been better. Very funny, very romantic, just plain fun.

This production of L'elisir D'amore is top-notch, first rate, excellent in every respect. What an enjoyable Saturday afternoon! The cast is superb, the sets wonderful, the orchestra without peer and the wonders of live in HD should be seen by one and all. We find the opera experience to be magnified greatly by the HD broadcasts; one feels intimately included on stage with the artists.

the audience at the Met gave Matthew Polenzani tenor the most sustained ovation i have heard since Juan Diego Flores hit 3 (or was it 4) high Cs. he was good a being the mopping lovesick bumpkin. Anna Netrebko was lively as always and in excellent voice. the peddler of L'elisir was hilarious and also sang well...and then there as Mariusz Kwiecien in a part perfect for his skills as a lecher. a very enjoyable if very silly opera. a

OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION!! If you are an opera fan, this is a "must see". The Met's new production is simply wonderful. What else could we expect from the Metropolitan Opera?? Matthew Polenzani's tender rendition of Una furtiva lagrima will rival Pavorotti's in its sensitivity. It is a good beginning opera to see for those unfamiliar with opera and for childlren as well. It is a comic opera; lots of fun.
