The production quality was great, the voices tremendous... was disappointed with the take the director took... such an ultra modern presentation. Was expecting more of a period piece. Will definitely return for other events! What a wonderful way to enjoy the arts!

Although, overall, I enjoyed this abviously, avant garde production, I found it a little off putting. Top notch singing all around. Dessay is stupendous. But I thought that Hvorostovsky did not portray the sympathy that I would have liked in the Germont role. He is a far better villain. And the production was a bit sterile for my taste.

La Traviata, like Carmen and Riggoletto befoire it is an incredible experience. The visuals, the sound, the music, the acting is all amazing and the prices are so reasonabloe, compared to live performances

It is fantastic to be able to drive half an hour from my house and be able to experience the Metropolitan Opera performance more than a thousand miles away in NYC.
The voices, the staging, the acting and the use of cameras all were great.
The translation/subtitles were slightly less than perfect, but what in life is every totally perfect.

La Traviata is my favorite opera - it is the most incredibly beautiful music. Natalie Dessay as brilliant as Violetta - the physicality of her performance along with her amazing soprano inspired the part beautifully. The modern, spare set as a little off-putting but the music was so spectacular that you could live with it. Opera lovers will really enjoy this. If someone is unfamiliar with opera and wants to learn - this is an excellent opportunity to begin. I could watch it again and again.
