La Traviata

My husband and I think Natalie Dessay is one of the all-time greats of opera, and we go out of our way to hear/see her. She and her co-star seemed to have an especially good chemistry in this production. We especially love the intermission interviews and backstage features of these live in HD operas. The singers are so generous to be willing to be interviewed right after performing such challenging roles. Natalie was especially disarming when she said "Sorry" to the audience in referance to her only slightly flat singing of a high note. In short, we loved all aspects of this opera, with the slight exception of the sets. While we would have preferred a traditional setting, these were effective and dramatic.

Excellent Performance

Very simplistic set allowing you to focus on the performance. A must see!!! Only drawback was the theater; every HD Live performance we have attended in past two years has a "blackout" during transmission. Save a few dollars and see the encore performances as there aren't any blackouts

Outstanding music with superb singing talent. The bland stage dressing may have detracted from the immotional impact. There is really nothing like the live theater HD to enjoy the NY Met!

Solid singing and minimalist sets were creative and allowed the singing to be front and center.

a non-traditional staging only added to the beauty and poignancy of La Traviata!! Absolutely a wonderful performance by the superb Met stars, director and conductor!
