If you love opera - you will love this!

I will admit that I didn't know what to expect - watching an opera at a movie theatre... but once the orchestra started playing the overture, I was mesmerized. Lawrence Brownlee and Elina Garanca were amazing...As a fellow singer, I am not blown away easily - but I was last Wednesday evening. Bravo! If you get a chance - go and watch. You will not be disappointed.

Having never previously seen this opera, I was curious as to what to expect. It exceeding my fondest expectations, as it was a great combination of singing, staging and acting by plausible-looking singers.

Fantastic. Great performances all around. I will be going to many more Met performances live in a movie theater.

La Cenerentola

There were technical problems with the presentation of this opera video. First, the image was remarkably dim. It looked like a rehearsal with the stage lights off. Even the spotlights on the lead singers barely registered. The problem might have been incorrect video settings during the video recording, but I doubt that. It's more likely that the projection equipment used at Century Theater in San Francisco could not produce a bright enough image. After I complained about the situation, a technician made adjustments at intermission that made the image slightly brighter but also more washed out. The Century Theater should correct this problem and make a public announcement that they have done so. I can't sit through another opera video that looks this bad. In addition to the dim image, the sound was sub-par. At this theater, the sound has been disappointing for all the Met-at-the-Movies events I have attended. There is no dimensionality to the sound, unlike a good home stereo.
