La Boheme is La Beautiful

Wonderful music of course; great singing of course; tragically beautiful story, of course. There is nothing like the real thing in person in NYC but this simulcast is the next best thing to being there. Save on the airfare...go local.

La Boheme

Really enjoyed the theater production of La Boheme, but did not need the theatrics of the scenery changes, set-ups, movements and characteristics of the Metropolitan in New York. It added over 30 minutes to the viewing event. Thank you

Affordable Opera

It is so awesome that this opportunity exists for those of us who love opera but find the cost prohibitive. The production is so well done. Even the best seats in the house don't get the close ups. Loved every cast member, and it was amazing that the replacement for Mimi was able to blend with the cast at such short notice. The orchestra was splendid. Seeing the scene change backstage during intermission was a special treat. I already have my tickets for Cosi Fan Tutti and Cenerentola.

Remarkable performance!

I have seen La Boheme many times, but this was one remarkable performance. The sets and staging by Zefferelli were outstanding, and the cast was great. Kristine Opolais, who sung Madama Butterfly the previous night, was recruited last minute due to illness of the soprano who was to sing the role of Mimi. Opolais was stunning...a truly wonderful singing actor. I hope this performance will be available on DVD, as it would be a treasure to own.

Step In Mimi Stands Out

La Bohème is perhaps my favorite opera and the Met production is the best I've seen. Had we not been told of the short-notice replacement for Mimi (sorry, I'm not good at remembering names), we would not have known. All of the cast were superb not only as singers, but as actors as well. The pre- and between acts visuals and interviews makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. One quibble, the captioning/translations seemed out of synch for this production. This was a bit disconcerting, especially since we are familiar with at least some of the Italian language.
