La Boheme

Marvelous HD simulcast of this opera. I had forgotten how beautiful Puccini's music is throughout. The part of Mimi, sung by the soprano who at just a few hours' notice had stepped into the part, was beautifully rendered, with the audience obviously in full support.

LA BOHEME - The Met Live in HD

This broadcast of the The Met's Live in HD was LA BOHEME. It featured a production in use for more than 30 years. The singing was superb, especially by Vittorio Grigolo and the soprano, who was a last-minute replacement. It was historic in that it was the first time in the Met's history, that a principal singer filled in for the matinee after performing the lead in another opera the night before. She was remarkable. The Met orchestra was at the top of their game, as usual. Also fascinating was watching the behind-the-scenes interviews and the crew working their magic managing the elaborate sets. Thanks to The Met for these broadcasts.

This HD presentation of the Met was a great event. History was made as the title role of Mimi was substituted due to the original soprano's illness. The artist who replaced the original soprano had just finished performing in Madame Butterfly the night before and she had a marvelous performance.

It is a big pleasure to visit Metropolitan Opera in local cinema. But all additional comments and illustrations must be not so long and delirious.

Fantastic performance enjoyed every minute of it. Also extremely interesting was the behind the scenes action during the intervals something you would not see in the theatre performance.
