Magnifico!

I LOVED it!!! This movie FAR exceeded my expectations. Beautiful in every way, and my husband (not an opera fan) enjoyed it because he was able to follow the story through the movie's subtitles. An extra bonus was the inside view of the Mets changing stage sets and interviews with the performers. A must see movie, in my opinion.......and not just for opera buffs.

I have now seen four of the Met Operas in the theater and they are so wonderful that I think I will do all of them next year. Having the subtitles enhances the enjoyment, because you truly understand what is going on.

Adjacent sound

Loved the performance in all respects. Every time we attend an HD performance the very loud base noise comes through from the theatre next door and spools the listening experience. It would seem that since the HD performances do not happen often, the sound might be turned down and/or that adjacent movie might skip a performance.

Historic Event

The performance was really good. All the singers were firing on all cylinders. But especially the Mimi. She sang Butterfly the night before, partied a bit and went to sleep at 5 AM. She then gets a call from Peter Gelb asking her if she could sing Mimi that afternoon! Never happened before in the history of the Met. If you missed this one make sure you get to the encore!

Best Opera Love Story

La Boheme has the best love story of any opera I have seen. The music is great as is the acting and story. Even the last minute replacement of the leading diva was great.
