La Boheme HD production of Metropolitan Opera, New York

I have been an opera fan for years, and I believe that these Met productions that broadcast performances live around the world are brilliant. During intermissions between acts, we theater viewers got to watch lively, informative interviews and watch the backstage crews preparing each set for the different acts, while the live audience in New York sees only a beautiful curtain! As for performances, every single singer performed brilliantly! Special praise goes to Kristine Opalais, who stepped in with only a few hour's notice to portray Mimi flawlessly, after having performed Butterfly the previous night! She stepped in for the lead soprano who had the flu, and performed beautifully and powerfully -- as if the role had been her own for months.

It is just plain wonderful to be able to see the MetOpera live in HD! I enjoy them all. LaBoheme is one of my favorites and this version was superb in every way. The entire cast of singers were memorable, and their interpretation was very moving in every way. I just wish even more people were aware of these opportunities to enjoy great perfomances from the Met.

Best Opera Love Story

La Boheme has the best love story of any opera I have seen. The music is great as is the acting and story. Even the last minute replacement of the leading diva was great.

Fantastic performance enjoyed every minute of it. Also extremely interesting was the behind the scenes action during the intervals something you would not see in the theatre performance.

The Metropolitan Opera: La Boheme

This was the most moving version of this opera I have ever seen. The music had a special effect that was compounded by the chemistry of the two lead singers. I found their acting to be as superb as their singing. I have never shed as many tears at an opera as I did at this performance. The historical naturre of the soprano's appearance was the icing on the cake.
