Absolutely fantastic! Words fail to describe this marvelous production. Thanks for carrying it. We drive up from Sarasota for the performance; well worth it. For 20 dollars, it's a steal! We hope to attend all 11 HD performances from The Met next season.

Met Hamlet

This modern version of Hamlet by the metropolitan opera is very disappointing. The sets or lack of them and costumes are ugly and do not fit. The acting is exagerated. The Ophelia mad scene is too bloody for my taste.

It Isn't Shakespeare's Hamlet

This composer veered quite a bit from the traditional Hamlet, but I really enjoyed it. It is very intimate and emotionally driven, so the television version was very suited, with it's long close-ups, and less focus on scenery and spectacle. The performers were actors who sang. It was hard to separate their singing (which was excellent) from their acting, which was also good. Maybe not right for the traditional opera gooer, but right for me.
