I had never seen Faust prior to last Saturday. Ithoroughly enjoyed this opera and the cast starting with Jonas Kaufman was great. I recommend to anyone who has not seen it to try and catch the Encore presentation.

Fabulous Faust

The Dec.10 perfomance of Faust in HD was fabulous. The performers were not only marvelous singers, but their acting was so convincing, they became the characters. Opera in HD is a gift to opera lovers everywhere. You don't have to live in New York to enjoy these performances for the bargain price of $22. If you are an HD fan I don't have to convince you, but if you haven't been to a performance yet, run don't walk to a theater near you. We loved it.

Faust - from the Metropolitan Opera

Another great LIVE high-def presentation from the Met, saving me the huge amount of money it would take to go to New York. The production was unusual but I liked it. Jonas Kaufmann as Faust was his usual magnificent self. The soprano I didn't like so much. But the Devil - the great German bass Rene Pape - was the best of all. i want to thank the young manager of Movies at the Falls (Miami) for opening the doors early for us "old folks" to wait in comfort. And I also want to thank Fandango and Movies at the Falls for providing a safe and friendly venue for the showing of these live transmissions.

A Modern Faust

The Met's production of Faust is set in the early 20th Century. Its sets, costumes, and ambiance are much closer to contemporary experience than the original medieval setting. The tragic story is all the more compelling. Seeing Faust on film brings the principals up close, potentially revealing flaws in acting and character portrayal. The acting is outstanding.. Now to the music! The singers in the version of Faust are incredibly wonderful -- as recognized by standing ovations by the live Met audience. The Met Live in HD brings to a national audience the best of opera in breathtaking film. I will attend every one the Met produces.

Great experience

What an incredible morning. The simulcast was perfect - music and acting in this performance were as good as it gets - and the theater's excellent image quality and acoustics were almost like physically being at the Met! My friend and I were emotionally wrung out when it was over. And I appreciate the thoughtfulness of the theater in providing complimentary coffee during the intermission of this long opera.
