Seeing the operas in HD on the big screen is amazing. Unless you are in the first 10 rows of the Met, you can't get the sense of the acting involved that you can on the screen. Yes, it is different than seeing a live performance. However, you get to see facial expressions and an extra bonus: the backstage happenings during intermissions (fascinating). No it is not the same as being in an opera house but it it thoroughly enjoyable. If you can't get to a live opera, this is a wonderful alternative.

It is hard to imagine a more perfect Onegin than the one presented yesterday by the MET in HD, no less. Dream cast: Netrebko, Kwiecien, and Beczala. And all brought together by the wonderful conducting of Gergiev. The time simply flew by and it was over all to soon. Hopefully the rest of the HD season will measure up to this performance. I hope it will be released on DVD.

Peter Gelb is a geniuis. Because of him so many people are able to enjoy the Met Opera which was before accessible to only a few. Onegin was fantastic -- Anna Netrebko and Mariusz Kwiecien were amazing. What a sad but beautiful opera. Enjoyed every minute of it even the intermissions!

Tchaikovsky & Netrebko, a brilliant pairing. I heard a few complaints over the sets in the new production but that's picking nits. Never have 4 hours gone so rapidly. The music is spellbinding and the singing superb. The Met orchestra as always was excellent.

Berthold Auerbach said "Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life". For me it's not just music it's classical music. And the dust is all negative things we have in our everyday life. I'm saying thanks to this opera that truly allowed me to get an esthetic pleasure once again. And once again it cleared my soul. I attended the Met Live HD for the first time and there weren't any technical difficulties. In whole I think it is a great opportunity to watch that kind of perfomances for the poeple who can't do it directly in theatres but who want to. As the very Opera I was impressed by Eugene Onegin. It wasn't the first time I saw this opera. Also as a person who studied Opera music and sang it I was paying attention to the way the actors sang more and I found it really worthy and beautiful. I just was a little bit dissappointed by Lensky at this time. Unfortunatelly I did not believe him. It referred to his singing more but not his acting.
